Dear Customer, before going on to describe in detail the qualities of the three restaurants that come under the Capri Gourmet umbrella, it would give me great pleasure to fill you in on the history of the company, which this year reaches the milestone of its 50th anniversary.

Our expertise has been consolidated over the course of half a century in the hospitality and restaurant sectors, first by myself personally and later by the entry into the business of my children (and business partners) Giuseppe, Mina and Oreste. The youngsters' tireless enthusiasm - coupled with the rock-solid dedication of the CapriGourmet staff - allows the restaurants to maintain the levels of style and refinement that I want them to have. As our slogan states, only top-quality restaurants have what it takes to be part of the Capri Gourmet group. Our principal clientele consists of groups of tourists who, during their visit to the island, want not only to experience its rich natural beauty but also to get to know something of the local culinary traditions. I am convinced that - thanks to the commitment of the whole team, the quality of our dishes, the charming surroundings of the restaurants themselves and the exquisitely warm welcome they extend - we succeed in delivering day after day exactly what our customers are after.

Between them, our four prestigious restaurants cover both tourist centers on the island, Capri and Anacapri, and so a Capri Gourmet restaurant is never far away. Our flagship restaurant is called "La Pigna", and, at 141 years old and counting, is the oldest on the island. It has played host to the most famous names of the international elite in the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, and this tradition of excellence is evident in the dishes that continue to come out of the kitchens.

The penultimate jewel in the Capri Gourmet crown is the "Le Terrazze" restaurant. Due to its elevated position, this restaurant affords a 360° panoramic vista that takes in the whole of Anacapri, and from the veranda, the lush road that leads up to the Villa Axel Munthe is also visible.

"La Giara" restaurant completes the Capri Gourmet group. It is housed on the converted ground floor of a Victorian building located right in the heart of the historical center of Anacapri, in Piazza Vittoria, and offers typical cuisine accompanied by a wide range of local, national and international wines.

These are just some of the reasons that lead me to invite you to visit these little temples of gastronomy. I very much hope that you can accept my invitation, and I look forward to meeting you in person and showing you round the generous lover that is Capri, the island that gives everything she has to give to all those who visit!

Gery Gargiulo

Capri is a generous lover...

Capri is a generous lover, an island that gives everything she has to give to all those who visit her, and she is not shy in showing off the attributes that everyone comes here to enjoy. Capri's charms are evident in her breathtaking cliff faces, in her ancient ruins, in her 'African' sunlight that intensifies the luxuriant greenery of her forests and the electric blue of her cavernous depths, in her widescreen skyscapes with the accompanying whisper of the Sirens, all enriched by her sensuous perfumes of thyme, cedar and sea salt.

Capri bewitched me, bonding me to her bosom with an everlasting, uncontainable love, just as she had done to Tiberius, Byron and Munthe...

I am a friend to - and a servant of - this 'Goat Island'. I pass my days leaping like a goat from one restaurant to another, negotiating the precipitous path of 'customer satisfaction'.

Capri welcomes everyone with open arms - income and ideology are unimportant. Through the magic of her alchemy, she makes all those who visit her experience the joy of being alive.

She has enchanted both Bolsheviks and Tsarists, and continues in all seasons to attract power players, masters of war, maestros of the art world and the most discerning celebrities. They dine side-by-side at La Pigna or at Capri Moon. We offer not only the sacred dishes of the local gastronomic tradition, but also the temples in which to worship that tradition dionysically!

Yet Capri also welcomes thousands upon thousands of ordinary mortals who come to realize, in a few short hours, the dream they have been cherishing for years on end. At the tables of Le Terrazze, I am there to welcome them in her name, to bid them farewell and invite them to return soon.
